Broadcast quality, without the broadcast budget

Curling Stadium puts the cameras, switching and network permanently in the building. Stadium Sports Network produces on top of them — on site, remotely, or somewhere in between. Together that is how a club final and a World championship get covered by the same operation, at a fraction of conventional cost.

Cameras on every sheet, switching, networking and graphics, installed permanently in the facility and tested long before an event is booked. That is what turns an ordinary club into a venue an event can be awarded to.

Why it costs so much less

Most of what makes event television expensive is temporary — trucks, rigging, freight and travel. Almost none of that applies when the infrastructure never leaves.

The cameras are already in the building

No truck, no rigging days, no temporary cabling. The cameras, switching and network are permanently installed and tested, so an event starts from a working system rather than an empty arena.

Every sheet is already covered

Conventional coverage picks a show sheet because cameras are expensive to move. Here all of them are live, so a producer can cut to whichever game matters without extra cost.

The crew does not have to travel

Vision mixing, graphics, replay and commentary can all be run from anywhere over the venue’s connection. Many events we produce are handled 100% remotely, which removes flights, hotels and per-diems from the budget entirely.

Graphics and scoring are already built

Overlays, scoreboards, sponsor slideshows and event tickers are part of the installed system, so an event does not pay to have them designed and built from scratch.

Across our installed facilities that is 100 sheets of ice already camera-ready in 17 buildings across three countries.

Many events are produced 100% remotely

Nobody from the SSN production team needs to be in the building. The permanent installation carries the feeds out over the venue’s own connection, and the entire production is run from wherever the operators happen to be.

How an event comes together

Three parties, usually. The facility, the production team, and whoever owns the event.

With the host facility

If the building already has a Curling Stadium installation, the production cost is largely just the production. If it does not, we will tell you honestly whether a temporary setup or an install makes more sense for the event you have in mind.

With SSN on production

Stadium Sports Network crews the broadcast, at whatever level the event justifies — a fully automated feed, a remote gallery, or a full on-site production for a final. The same team covers events outside curling, so the experience is not limited to one sport.

With associations and partners

Championship and playdown events normally involve the national or provincial association. We work through an event services agreement that sets out responsibilities, per-game production cost and the facility's revenue opportunities.
